In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was
established in 1906 and is a federal agency responsible for for
protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and
security of human ( including children) and other animal
foods.
It does this by overseing a majority of the companies obligations
which are involved in food, drugs, animal food, dietary
supplements, medical devices, biological products and blood
products.
It is also regulating the development of new drugs.
