Accounts based forecasting is an integrated approach to leverage the customers and to model promotional activity into both sales and shipment forecasts.

Driver based forecasting is linking of operational activity to calulate key revenues and expenses.

The differences between the two are:

Account based forecasting focused on selling and promotional activities for major customers whereas driver based forecasting is focused on budgeting and forecasts.

The major component of driver based forecasting is calculation whereas the major component of account based forecasting is selling and promotion.
