Answer:

Given that the standard deviation = 50

Mean = 500

To find that sale of vehicles greater than 550 is more than one standard deviation

=> We know that 68% of the times the normal distribution lies below 1 sigma distribution.

=> For more than sales of 550 vehicles, 32% of the times it is possible

=> For a period of 12 months (1 year) => 3.84 months ~ 4 months it is possible to sell more than 550 vehicles

A gun shop sells gunpowder. Monthly demand for gunpowder is normally distributed, average 20 pounds, and has a standard deviation of 2 pounds. The shop manager wishes to stock gunpowder inventory at the beginning of each month so that there is only a 2% chance that the shop will run out of gunpowder. (i.e., that demand will exceed inventory) in any given month. Calculate the amount of gunpowder to stock in inventory, in pounds.

The citizens of Brownsville have a monthly income that is normally distributed with an average of $3000 and with standard deviation of $500. Based on this, one can find the range of income for the middle 95% of its citizens (income that mark separate the bottom and the top 2.5% of the income distribution). What is the income of that separates the poorest 2.5% from the rest? (round to whole number).
