(History) What, if anything, can society do about people who hold opinions that the majority finds abhorrent?
The general practice is that when a group of people hold opinions that majority finds abhorrent is that they are boycotted or the society does not accept them. But the actual practice should be to understand theor point of view and analyze why they hold such an opinion. They should be explained why their point of view may be wrong and why majority are not supporting their view. They should neither be boycotted nor be punished. The welfare of the society is in the inclusive growth of everyone in the society.
