is it "ethical" to use deadly force in defense of property? Does the value of the property matter here?
No it is not ethical to use deadly forces in the defence of a property. Use of some violence is justified but deadly use of forces cannot be used in the defence of a property.
A person can use power to defend or terminate any trespassing activity on the property. Force that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury (i.e., deadly force) normally may not be used solely to protect property.
Any deadly force used is only justified when a person enters into the premises with the intention to cause criminal offence with the property. But any defence activity amounting to murder is not justified whatever be the value fo the property. No the value of the property does not matter, but force can be used only if a person unlawfully enters the property to hurt or carry out any criminal offence.
