All compound interest equations consist of what four variables? To solve for one variable, how many others must we know?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Future Value = Present Value*[{1+(Interest Rate/Number of times compounded in a year)}^{Number of times compounded in a year*Number of Years}]

Compound Interest = Future Value-Present Value

Accordingly, All Compound Interest Equations of 4 variables viz.

(i) Present Value i.e. Principal

(ii) Interest Rate

(iii) Number of times, Interest is compounded in a year

(iv) Number of Years i.e. Time Period

To solve for one variable, we must know (i) All the other 3 variabes AND ALSO (ii) Either Future Value(amount) or Compound Interest(amount)

We are all too familiar with linear equations in two variables. These systems may have no solution, one solution, or infinitely many. Of course, we can interpret these solutions geometrically as two parallel lines, two intersecting lines, or two identical lines in the plane. Describe the process of isolating a variable in a formula. In your opinion, what is the greatest advantage in isolating a variable in a formula? Describe the process in general terms first( outline the steps). Then, mention how earlier concepts apply to this process ( for example, additive and multiplicative inverses.) Give an example that shows each step in the process. In physics , many equations contain multiple variables and we can often solve for each one. For example a famous...
