I have taken example of functional structure of an organization.

Advantage:-

The main advantage of these type of organization is specialisation each head of the function has the special expertise knowledge about the own function so he/she can assist efficiently to his/her staff.

Disadvantage:-

Workers or employees may receive order from the more than one functional head so there could be a complexity in such structure of an organization. For ex. Production department workers can given command by Finance head to reduce the cost while the same workers can be command by the production department that increase the quality of the output. So in such situations coplexity rises.
