Assume a hospital’s coders are dealing with 1,500 claims week. What would the dollar amount of productivity loss be for that week if the coders took an extra two minutes per claim?

Answer #1

Here, we shall assume below details

Amount per hour not given in question therefore we assume $50.00 per hour.

As per given information hospital's coders are dealing with 1500.00 claims per week and coders took extra 2 minuts per claim.

As per our assumption let's calculate amount per minute i.e. $50.00 per hour / 60 mins --> $0.833

Coders took extra 2 minuts per claim. Hence, 2 mins extra equals to $0.833 * 2 --> $1.67

Therefore, if hospital's coders are dealing with 1500.00 claims per week and coders took extra 2 minuts per claim then dollar amount of productivity loss is $1.67 * 1500 claims --> $2500.00
