Question

1.Based on the equation Y = 4.29 + 143.3X, Sales(Y) is in Units of $1000.00 and Advertising(X) is in Units of $100. What are Sales when $2,140.00 is spent on advertising?

2. Sales(Y) is in Units of $1000.00 and Advertising(X) is in Units of $100. If we want to calculate the value of sales when $40,614.00 is spent on advertising. What do we use for X in the following equation? Y=42.9+143.3X.

Please, do the two questions and show processes

Answer #1

1. In equation Y = 4.29 + 143.3X, Y is in units of $ 1000.00 means total sales amount is in thousands (for example $ 1000 is in units of $1000 we have to right it as $1). So, in this question Sales (y) is calculated as follows:

Y = 4.29 + 143.3 (21.4) ( since from Advertisement Cost in $ 100 Units = $2140 / $100 = 21.4)

Y = 4.29 + 3066.62 = 3070.91

Sales = $3070.91 (in $1000 Units)

2. Sales(Y) is in Units of $1000.00 and Advertising(X) is in Units of $100. If we want to calculate the value of sales when $40,614.00 is spent on advertising, we have to use $406.14 in the place of X because we have convert the absolute amount in to $100 units amount (i.e., $40614 / $100 = $406.14).

Hence the Sales (Y)= 4.29 + 143.3 (406.14) = 58204.152 (in $1000 Units)

The data above show the impact of advertisement spending towards
a product’s sales. If we model the relationship as linear: y =

Suppose that a company's sales volume y (in thousands
of units) is related to its advertising expenditures x (in
thousands of dollars) according to the following.
xy − 48x + 16y = 0
Find the rate of change of sales volume with respect to
advertising expenditures when
x = 16
(thousand dollars).

1. When $x thousand is spent on advertising a product, the sales
(number of units sold) is given by S(x)= -x^3+9x^2+21x+100 for
0<=x<=10. Which of the following is not correct? Optional
Answers:
1. Sales has a global (absolute) minimum at x=0
2. Sales has a global (absolute) maximum at x=7
3. Rate of sales has a global (absolute) maximum at x=3
4. Rate of sales has a global (absolute) minimum at x=0

Regression analysis was applied between sales (y in $1000) and
advertising (x in $100) and the following estimated regression
equation was obtained. Ŷ = 80 + 6.2x Based on the above estimated
regression line, if advertising is $10,000, then the point estimate
for sales (in dollars) is a. $700,000. b. $700. c. $62,080. d.
$142,000.

Assume you are given the following equation (Y = 80-20X). The Y
value represents Price while X value represents Quantity demanded
for books.
In the space below, neatly calculate the values of X when Y are
15, 10, 5, and 0. Work must be shown.
Next, with the four data points calculated, neatly construct a
graph below by drawing and labeling both axes (Price and Quantity
Demanded). Now plot the four coordinates you have calculated from
