Descriptive research identifies issues or problems through data collection methods and to describe the situation more completely than was possible without employing this method. Descriptive research illustrates a non quantified but relevant topic which involves a well focused research question

It describes various aspects of the phenomenon. It describes the characteristics of sample population. Descriptive research cannot test or verify. Analytical studies are used for testing hypothesis.

Examples are observational studies, case studies, qualitative research studies etc
