Why is criminal liability imposed on a corporation? Do you think the penalties (e.g., jail time) imposed on corporate executives for white collar crimes are sufficient?
A corporation can be held liable for the criminal liability that offense is done by their employees or directors but a corporation cannot be punished because corporation is an artificial judicial person and secondly offense is not done by corporations but that is done by their employees or directors therefore a way to punish corporation like punishment, fine etc.
According to me just imposing penalties on white collar crime is not sufficient because it give again a chance to commit white collar crime specially for those who have sufficient money however there are not only penalties imposing on corporate executives they also get punished by community cofinement, imprisonment etc.
I hope this clear your doubt.
