Answer-

The author's strategy is to highlight the recent pandemic COVID-19 which has rattled and wreaked havoc in the investment and stock markets with lot of stocks and investments got eroded all the wealth that one has accumulated over a period of 40 years within just 40 days.

The statement makes sense because the investor who has been very prudent in investments over the period of 40 years diversifying his investments into various sector stocks and other assets has lost his investments with the outbreak of COVID-19 because it has plummeted the markets in US and other countries and they have corrected. In all markets most of the stocks has lost more than 50 % of the value and the investors wealth has eroded drastically in just a period of 40 days.
