If competition prevents profitability company should focus on minimizing operating expenses and try to reduce cos of goods sold by ordering in bulk or trying to get trade discounts from suppliers. Retiring high interest debt or bond and replacing it with low interest bond and debt will help increasing profitability. Also , in place of permanent employees contractual employee can reduce salaries and improve profitability. Increase sales turnover can increase profitability.
