I need to download S&P 500 stocks' monthly historical data, including their closing price, trading volume and market capitalization. I know I can download the 500 data from online like Yahoo Finance but it takes too much time. Does anyone know how to download the 500 pieces of data together (and better in one xlsx/csv)? Thank you!

You can do that by using Bloomberg data base or by using Thomson Reuters Ekion software. However, one terminal of this would cost approximately 25,00,000 INR or $ 37,000 (including exchange permissions) per user per year.

Its better search for libraries where these kinds of facilities are available. For eg: in India, you can get this facility in IIM-A, IIM-B with payment.

We wont get this kind of facility in case of free wares like yahoo finance, rediff finance, google finance etc.
