Question

If x+y=150 and x/y=.45 Then what are the values for x and y?

If x+y=150 and x/y=.45 Then what are the values for x and y?

Homework Answers

Answer #1
First equation is:
x + y = 150
or x = 150 - y
Second equation:
x / y = 0.45
Now, put the value of x in first equation in second equation as under:
(150- y) / y = 0.45
150 - y =0.45 y
150 = 1.45 y
y= 150/1.45 =103.45
The value of y = 103.45
Now, put the value of y in first equation
x= 150 -103.45 = 46.55
Therefore,
Value of x= 46.55
Value of y= 103.45
