Why do companies place profit over ethics ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Most companies are profit making entities. They exist to make profits at all costs. Many a times it is the pressure to keep stock prices high that causes the managers to emphasize profits over ethics. Also the managers may have compensation linked to profits due to which they stress on higher profits. High pressure from management, employees and shareholders causes companies to focus on profits and try to earn maximum profits at all costs even by ignoring ethics.
