Assume the role of an IT manager: to the extent that you can, evaluate online application offerings by Google, Microsoft, Apple, and rivals (Google Docs, Office-365, etc). In your opinion, are these efforts ready for prime time? Why or why not? Would you recommend that a firm choose these applications? Are there particular firms or users that would find these alternatives particularly appealing? Would you ever completely replace desktop offerings with online ones? Why or why not?

Answer #1

As the concept based system online applications can be a good replacement of desktops in near future but not in current condition and situations. The system is based on cloud computing , requires a good network and connectitive every time.

There are many firms or users , who can find these atlernativess very appealing. These firms may be ecommerce , data analytics firms , data science professional and many more . As these applications provide better security and analytical features at affordable price.

I wouldn't recommend the replacement of desktop with online ones , as the online desktop solution requires connectivity every time , there are many functions in firm can be performed without use of internet and connectivity , some of the functions may perform on intranet . So, desktop cann't be replaced completely at this time .
