The battle between Edison and Tesla to see whose machine would power the world was won by Tesla. This has since shaped the power generation industry that exists today. The decision at the time was an easy one, but was it the correct one?

Tesla has invented magnetostatics and various phenomenan regarding this and mostly ac machines and transformer works on their principles .Ac is more convenient and more economical in regarding transmission and distribution and even for generation also.dc power creates alot of losses and creates very difficulties in transmission and distribution. So as said in question tesla won the world but contribution of edis ion for electrical engineering world will never forget him .

In the case of ac power transfer capability has been increased by bundled conductor. Transmission losses are reduced by increasing voltage level by using transformers. Various advantages of ac over dc thatswhy ac is used now days in almost contries .
