In the operational manual is stated “if one or more than one parameter exceeds the safe value, a protective measure is needed to be done”. As an engineer, design a schematic diagram using an OR gate to detect the exceed parameter and explain how it will produce a command signal for the system to take the required action. AP[6marks]
b) A coil of inductance 159.2mH and resistance 20Ω is connected in series with a 60 Ω resistor to a 240 V, 50 Hz supply. Determine (i) the impedance of the circuit, (ii) the current in the circuit, (iii) the circuit phase angle, (iv) the p.ds. Across the 60Ω resistor and the coil. AN [8marks]
c) A platinum coil has a resistance of 3.146 at 40OC and 3.767 at 100OC. Find the resistance at 0OC and the temperature –coefficient of resistance at 40OC.
