A solid-state relay with a control circuit rated for 5 V DC has a positive sign marked on one of the control terminal connections. What does this mean as far as the operation of the relay is concerned?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Consider the symbol of Solid-state relay which is shown below

It has LED on the Left side and Semiconductor switches on the right side. The LED and Semiconductor switch are isolated to each other. Plus sign indicates that this terminal should be connected to the positive terminal of 5V and the minus terminal indicates that this terminal should be connected to the negative terminal of 5V source. the 5V source turns on the LED and LED light turns on the semiconductor switch

Please thumbs up

Q11: Speed control of motors (ac motors as well as dc motors) can be accomplished by using solid-state switching circuitry In one such method, a solid-state relay is activated using a switching signal generated by a microcomputer so as to turn on and off at high speed, the power into the motor drive circuit. Speed of the motor can be measured using a sensor such as tachometer or optical encoder. This signal is read by the microcomputer and is used...

A 5-kW, 220-V shunt motor has an armature resistance of 0.15 ? and a field-circuit resistance of 100 ?. The motor delivers rated output power at rated voltage when its armature current is 20 A. When the motor is operating at rated voltage, the speed is observed to be 1000 r/min when the machine is loaded such that the armature current is 15 A. In order to protect both the motor and the dc supply under starting conditions, an external...
