Answer- Electromechanical device converts mechanical energy into electical energy or electrical energy into mechanical energy.This conversion of energy takes place through medium of magnetic field or electric field but most of the conversion takes place in magnetic field as a coupling medium between electical and mechanical systems as storing capacity of magnetic field is more as compared to electic field.

The performance of electromechanical energy conversion devices is determined by the net force and electromagnetic torque acting on the moving component.Other factors are shape,size and material of the components etc.
