what would happen if the rotor circuit of the induction motor is shorted ?
what would happen if the rotor circuit of the induction motor is not shorted?
1)
When the rotor circuit of the induction motor is shorted, the induced voltage generates flow of current in the coil and it produces rotor flux due to interaction of rotating magnetic field produced by the stator windings Since induction motor works on principle of mutual inductance and thus the rotor conductors experience a ‘force’ or ‘torque’ due to which the rotor starts rotating
2)
If the two terminals of a rotor windings are kept open there will be induced voltage in stator coils due to mutual induction as happens in case of open circuit (secondary side) transformer but this open circuit voltage will not be able to make any flow of currents in the rotor windings
