Three 60w bulbs are in parallel across a 60v power line. If one bulb burns what will happen to the other 2? and Why ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans is nothing will happen to other two bulbs they will glow with same intensity before third bulb bulb burn(open)

Why¿

"If power consumption is change then
Light intensity will change "

Let's modeled bulb as Resistor

Therefore three resistor are connected parallel with a volatage source
And power consumed by each resistor is (V^2/R)
Even one resistor open(burn) power consumed by other two bulbs remain same ( in parallel volatage is same)

Therefore the two bulbs glow as it is without any change

Compact fluorescent bulbs are much more efficient at producing light than are ordinary incandescent bulbs. They initially cost much more, but last far longer and use much less electricity. According to one study of these bulbs, a compact bulb that produces as much light as a 100 W incandescent bulb uses only 23.0 W of power. The compact bulb lasts 1.00×104 hours, on the average, and costs $ 12.0 , whereas the incandescent bulb costs only 73.0 ¢, but lasts...

Please answer.. Overview: When a wire is attached to the positive terminal of a power source, such as a battery, and to the negative terminal of the battery a potential difference is set across that wire and a current is generated through that wire. Depending on how much resistance there is in the wire will affect the amount of current through that wire. Adding more resistance will further affect the amount of current.  In this experiment you will measure both the...
