Explain the significance of the following information given in the specification of a sensor: a) A piezoelectric accelerometer: Non-linearity: + or - 0.5% of full range. b) A capactive linear displacement sensor: non-linearity and hysteresis error: + or - 0.01% of full range. c) a Resistance strain gauge force sensor: Temperature sensitive: + or - 1 % of full range over normal environment temperatues.

Answer #1

a) A piezoelectric accelerometer: Non-linearity: + or - 0.5% of full range

It's significance is that the accelerometer will show 0 to 0.5 (i.e, very low) non -linearity error. That the graph will deviate that much from actual value because of linearity.

b) A capactive linear displacement sensor: non-linearity and hysteresis error: + or - 0.01% of full range.

It's significance is that at any point the maximum difference in output at any measurement value within the sensor's specified range when approaching the point first with increasing and then with decreasing the input parameter will be + or - 0.01%.

c) a Resistance strain gauge force sensor: Temperature sensitive: + or - 1 % of full range over normal environment temperatues.

It's significance is that due to difference in temperature the value will differe from actual value by + or - 1% of full range over normal environment.
