Assume that the total resistance, Pa and Pe are 100mmHg and 20mmHg, respectively. Calculate the relative resistance of arterioles (Re/Ra) for a glomerular pressure of 80mmHg.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given,

Pa = 100mmHg

Pe = 20 mmHg

Glomerular pressure = 80 mmHg

Ra resistance between Pa and  glomerular pressure can be given by

is change in pressure between  Pa and  glomerular pressure

Q is flow rate

100 - 80 = Q x Ra

20 = Q x Ra ..............(1)

Re resistance between Pe and  glomerular pressure can be given by

is change in pressure between  Pe and  glomerular pressure

Q is flow rate

100 - 20 = Q x Re

80 = Q x Re ................(2)

Dividing equation (2) by (1) gives
