Question

I've noted that the engine temp reads below C even after 30+ mins of driving. Sometimes it will be around 1/3, but usually its below C even when I've been running for quite a while.

What could be wrong with the car?

What are the likely effects and consequences?

The thermostat connected to the engine not working properly due to defective guage or sensor.

The likely consequences are

i) If the temperature is too cold it affect the fuel economy. As the engine is to me maintained at constant temperature for fuel economy.

ii) If the engine is temperature gets too high when heated it may damage the system.

Corrective measures:

i) Check whether temperature guaze or sensor is working properly.

ii)Buy a new thermostat and reconnect the radiator.
