Low voltage cable (<1kV):It is used in household wiring,pumping,LV motors.

Medium voltage cable(1kV to 100kV): It is used in commercial buildings(which is generally 33kV) like malls,small industrial transmission system.

High voltage cable(100kV to 220kV): It is used in subtransmission systems(like big industry).

Extra high voltage cable(>220kV): It is used in the primery transmission systems for long distance transmissions.

NB: All the voltage ranges varies from book to book.
