In digital communication it is true to say that the output of a
correlator receiver and match filter are always the same for the
duration of the signal.
?True or False?
False
The output of matched filter at sampling time can be realised as the output of correlator reciever but the waveform in their output is different from one another. The matched filter and the correlator in thier ouput maximizes the pulse SNR at the sampling instant , thus they are optimal receivers in this sense. If we consider the best sampling instant, and only in this instant, the measured SNRs are the same in both. If they are designed with the same scaling factor (gain), the sample values will be the same if the same noise is applied at their inputs. so we can say their output is not always same but can be if we consider all the measures as described above.
