A)

A resistor is connected across a 50 V source. What is the maximum current possible in the circuit if the resistor is color-coded at red, orange, orange, silver?

24.2 mA

2.42 mA

19.76 mA

2.17 mA

B)

The resistance of a 35 cm length of copper with a cross-sectional area of 0.03 cm2 is

2 m?

20 m?

1.08 m?

2 ?

(I chose 2 m?, is this right?)

C)

The guaranteed range of measured values for a 68 k? resistor with a 5% tolerance is

61.2 k? minimum; 74.8 k? maximum

54.4 k? minimum; 81.6 k? maximum

64.6 k? minimum; 71.4 k? maximum

66,64 ? minimum; 69,36 ? maximum

(I chose 64.6, 71.4, is this right?)

D)

Answer #1

A) Resistor colours are

Red = 2

orange = 3

So resistance value R = 23*1000 = 23 K ohm

So current i = 50/23 Kohm = 2.17 mA

B) resistor length L = 35 cm

area a = 0.03 cm2

So R = L/a = 1.68*10^-8*35*10^-2/0.03*10^-4

= 2 m ohm

C) R = 68%

= 68+5/100*68 or 68-5/100*68

= 68+3.4 or 68-3.4

= 71.4 K ohm or 64.6 K ohm
