You must design a power transmission system to connect a DC motor to its load. The motor is given in the motor catalogue as a BM1400 motor. You must create a transmission that will connect to this motor and have a two stage gear reduction (i.e. there must be two sets of gear reduction) with a total drive reduction of 10:1. The final output shaft must be at 90 deg from the input shaft. You must specify all the components that will go in to the gearbox (gears, shafts, and bearings). Included with the motor catalogue is a gear and a bearing catalogue which you can use to select your components. Justify all your design decisions with calculation.

Design a compact three-stage compound spur gear train that will transmit 25 KW power from an electric motor running at 5080 rpm to an assembly conveyor whose drive shaft must rotate at 17 ± 0.1 rpm. With a 20O pressure angle, specify tooth numbers for each gear in the train to minimize the gearbox size while avoiding interference. Find the torque on the input and output shafts.

you are given a motor operated by a 9V battery. The stall torque for this motor is  Ts = 0.04 N-m, and its no-load speed, wnl = 2200  rpm. You are given a 10-tooth gear, a 20-tooth gear, and a bunch of axles (shafts). Draw below how will you connect the gears and shafts so that output shaft has a higher torque than the motor shaft. Label in your diagram, which gear is the input (driver), and which is the output (driven).   ...

Design of DC Motor Starter In order for a dc motor to function properly, it must be protected from physical damage during the starting period. At starting conditions, the motor is not rotating, and armature generated voltage EA = 0 V. Since the internal resistance of a normal DC motor is very low, a very high current flows. It is possible for a motor to be severely damaged by such currents, even if they last for only a moment. A...
