what is electric overload and rated values?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ELECTRIC OVERLOAD:

Every electric circuit in a wiring system must be protected against overloads.

A circuit overload occurs when the amount of current flowing through the circuit exceeds the rating of the protective devices.

The amount of current flowing in a circuit is determined by the load or the demand for current.

RATED VALUES:

The term rated in any electrical equipment wheather its RATED VOLTAGE or RATED CURRENT means it is the maximum value of current, voltage or any other parameter beyond which the machine will not be operating according to its desired operation.

Beyond the rated value the machine may have some faults or damages .

A common flashlight bulb is rated at 0.44 A and 2.8 V (the values of the current and voltage under operating conditions). If the resistance of the bulb filament at room temperature (20°C) is 1.2 Ω, what is the temperature of the filament when the bulb is on? The temperature coefficient of resistivity is 4.4 × 10-3 K-1 for the filament material.
