HMI stands for human machine interface.
This consists of both hardware and software components that helps to exchange information between human operator and machine.
On-screen touch options, buttons and switches, and keypads are used to enable operators to input information and initiate actions. HMIs also output information to operators through indicator lights .
As we control the temparature of the room by monitoring the air conditioner ,we can monitor the temperature of a machine automatically by using HMI.
an example:
if we consider the example of food factory,where u have to fill the vessel by 1000ml with water and followed by 1kg of a flour and mix it,now the amount of water and amount of flour to be filled is given as input to machine by using keypad,now the machine fills by water then when it comes to 1000 ml it stops pouring the water and then its weighs flour as required and then adds to water and then mixes.this end of process is indicated by a light by glowing it once done.
this is a simple example like this we can have very comples things done using HMI .
