Explain with control theory why the settling time doesn't change when going from open-loop to closed-loop configuration

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The settling time doesn't change when going from open loop to closed loop because when we change from open loop to close loop only denominator value changes i.e, poles values changes while damping ratio and natural frequency remains same.

Settling time = 4/

As both damping factor( ) & natural frequency () are same for both open loop & closed loop system. So, the settling time doesn't change when going from open-loop to closed-loop configuration.

There are two basic forms of control system: open-loop and closed-loop. With closed loop there is a feedback, a system containing a comparison element, a control element, correction element, process element and the feedback involving a measurement system. Figure below shows the layout of these elements in a generic closed loop system. Can you identify the following elements that might be present in a closed loop control system involving a thermostatically controlled furnace? In such a system, what would each...

Explain the dynamics resulting from an open market purchase or sale. Explain when an open market purchase is favorable or when an open market sale is favorable. Specifically, assume the sale or purchase to happen $100 must be printed or retired from circulation when the multiplier is 2. In your explanation discuss and distinguish what happens to money supply, the monetary base, and how the money multiplier works. Be sure to indicate the direction of money flows.

Individuals with asthma suffer from bronchoconstriction and inflammation in their bronchioles. Why doesn't bronchoconstriction occur in the larger bronchi? An inhaler typically mimics epinephrine's effects on the bronchioles. What do you think it does? Bronchi contain more hyaline cartilage and less smooth muscle, which provides support to keep the airways open. An inhaler would stimulate bronchodilation to open the airways and restore air flow.
