A prismatic steel rod   (n = 0.3) is subjected to simple axial tensile loading. One strain gage aligned with the axial load is mounted on the center of one face of the rod. A second gage is similarly mounted on the opposite face of the rod.

a) The gages are connected to arms 1 and 3 in a Wheatstone bridge. Is the measurement system temperature compansated? Clearly explain why or why not. If your answer is no, explain hoe it can be made temperature compansated.

b) For a temperature compansated system, if DEo = 10 mV and EI = 10 V, determine the axial and transverse strains. For each gage, the gage factor is 2.00 and the gage resistance is initially 120 W.
