Two engineers were given the schematics of a circuit board to control a motor-powered robot arm with a load RL=100 ohms.
Both engineers used Thevenin's theorem to find Vth (or Voc)=10 V and Rth = 200 ohms. In order to maximize the power delivered by the circuit board to the motor, the first engineer decided to get a new motor with RL = 200 ohms to match Thevenin's Rth =200 ohm. The second engineer decided to modify the circuit board schematics to get an Rth=100 ohms to match the original motor of RL=100 ohms.
What engineering approach do you think you agree with, the first or the second and why?
