Explain the operation of RTD relays and motors and generators.

RTD is an resistance temperature detector that depends on the principle that the materials resistance changes with change in temperature .It is used with machines like transformers and motors and generators where the temperature of motor and generators are relayed back to a programmable computer where it is used to check wheather it is crossing the given rating so tht the circuit breakers could be opened to stop the faulty or overcurrent current.

An RTD takes measurement when a small DC current is supplied to the sensor and the metal resistances experience a voltage drop and according to that voltage drop the current passing and the amount of it passing if not crossing the permissible limit can be decide wheather to open the circuit breakers or not..
