A developer approached you to design the electrical system for a small condo complex with 8 identical 1- bedroom units split into 2 buildings. Assume only single phase 120/240V power is available.
(a) Come up with two different ways to distribute electricity in this complex (in terms of the number of transformers and breaker panels and how they connect), use a diagram if it helps.
(b) Determine the circuits inside one of the unit, list and calculate all the electric loads on each circuit
(c) For each circuit, size the appropriate circuit breaker.
(d) Create a breaker panel schedule for that specific unit in (b), be careful with dedicated circuits
(e) What is the panel size (remember what we are sizing for) for one of the unit?
(e) What is the maximum supply current for the entire complex? Is there a problem with that?
We have two ways to give the supply in the building(on the basis of number of transformer and pannel):-
1)one transformer and one pannel:-In this supply bothe the building are supplied with only one transformer which is connected in series with the pannel and both the building are given a parallel connection.the load on the transformer will be more in such case.
2)two transformer and two pannel:-both the buildings are given a separate transformers and a seperate pannel.load will be less in each transformer and smooth operation.
