Incandescent lamps tend to produce more red and yellow lights than either green or blue, i.e. it tends to make the natural colors much more warmer in tone. Thus, you have to subtract red color (if you subtract yellow, a bit of green would also go, since yellow = red + green). Subtracting red color will make the tones much colder and will give a natural color appearance to a typical observer.
