Latest poverty rate for those under 18 is 24 % while the poverty rate for those between 18 and 24 is approximately to 21 %.

There is close to 3-4 % gap between these two different age groups. Main reason for gap is schooling and colleges. Individuals under the 18 age group are likely to continue with their studies, hence, they are less likely to go for job. While individuals after 20, would be getting recruited in different jobs. Thus, they tend to have jobs, hence come above the poverty line.
