suppose the total number of workers employed in all industries is 30,000;the total number of workers in the country in sugar industry is 5000,the total number of workers employed in n region is 15000 and total number of workers in sugar industry is 3000. what is the suggestion of the location quotient ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The percentage of workers in sugar industry across the country = (5000/30000)×100 = 16.67% ....i

Now the percentage of workers in sugar industry in a region 'n' = (3000/15000)×100 = 20% ....ii

The Location Quotient = Percentage of sugar workers in region n/ percentage of sugar workers across the country

= ii/i

= 20/16.67

= 1.20

An indication below 1.5 shows us that there is no specialization for sugar industry in the region n.

Hope this helps. Do hit the thumbs up. Cheers!
