EXISTENCE OF FAMINE AND MALNUTRITION CONSIDERED A DISTRIBUTIONAL PROBLEM AND NOT ONE OF FOOD SHORTAGE
I partially agree with the view presented above that existence of famine and malnutrition should be considered a distributional problem and not one of food shortage. Malnutritional problem is generally found in children born in families with very low income.
No matter how efficient a distributional system is, it is very difficult to take care of nutritional and needs of food for a large chunk of population especially during adverse time such as famine.
It is true that tackling distributional inefficiencies should be of utmost importance to take care of nutritional and food requirement of the population, however, poverty is also one of the biggest reasons for the existence of the deficiencies of food and nutritional needs, especially during famine.
