Corporate governance system was launched in Mauritius in 2003.It gives more exceptions to private sector.Thus a private sector governance came into existence with good positive feedback particularly in the listed companies of the country.The state owned companies and many other financial companies need to upgrade further.The system was purely based on the OECD principles.

In 2016 it got revised and much more new reforms were added to put the country best in the field of corporate governance in the whole Africa after studying the global financial crisis and analysis of major distresses.

Some of the added reforms are Audit,Reporting with Integrity,Governance structure, structure of the board,relations with shareholders and stakeholders,duties and remuneration of the members etc..
