US economy is facing myriad of problems but health care issue is most appealing ones. Health cost has risen significantly over the past few years. In 1970, US health care expenditure was 5 % of GDP but current data illustrates that US spends close to18 % of GDP on Health care which is almost double than that of other developed countries.

Despite such phenomenal rise in health care spending, US average life is less than other developed countries such as UK and France. US has 90 % health insurance coverage while other developed countries boast of achieving around 99 %.

Cost of health care has increased due to high cost of doctors, pharmaceutical companies and nurses. These must be controlled through the government legislation. Further, government must protect physicians against the unnecessary litigation and surety must be provided that they will not be dragged in court for minor errors.
