In criminology, the focus concerns theory, posted by Walter B. Miller in 1962, tries to explain the conduct of "teenage road corner group participants in societies of reduced class"as concern for six focal concerns: trouble, toughness, smartness, excitement, fate, autonomy

Autonomy-Lower-class youth resistance to being controlled by others in their life.

Exitement-Searching for thrills, hazards or risks resulting from deviant behaviors

Smartness-The capacity to prevent foxing. street smarts

Toughness- A physical prowess often exhibited by machismo

Trouble- Getting into and staying out of trouble (essential aspect)

Fate- Lower class beliefs that their lives are determined by forces beyond their control
