The agricultural sector is not so much developed in Trinidad as it only contributes less than 0.5 % to GDP. Around 4% population is engaged in agricultural sector for employment. To grow the industrial sector, agricultural sector has been ignored which has increased the dependence of Trinidad’ s people on imports to fulfill their demand for food items . it affects the growth of economy so now the government has make its priority to diversify the growth of agricultural sector and encourage people to involved in agriculture to increase the productivity and reduce foreign trade of food items. Government is making plans to increase country’s food productivity and get food security.
