Instagram is one of the biggest social media networks now and registered members with a huge following are turned into influencers. They can promote products, services from their accounts and because of a huge fan following they get paid for such promotions. However, this practice is not ethical because if they are getting paid then they should disclose it in their posts.
The fans are getting mislead without such disclosure and that is why the Federal Trade Commission has intervened and asked the Instagram influencers to properly disclose the apid promotion. The proper hashtags or post comments should be used such as #sponsored or #ad to disclose the gift, paid promotions or material business connection.
FTC has also stated that the hashtags should not be used in the middle or at the end because the URL is published as a shortened version and so it could communicate properly. FTC has also stated that this does not mean it must be at the start but then it will better if that is disclosed at the start of such promotion.
