Consumers feel that they are doing their part when using a product or service from a socially responsible organization. The more the business is socially responsible, the more the public and customers will be tolerant. Corporate social responsibility helps build trust, raise awareness, and promote social change. Although tens of thousands of businesses do their part, the efforts of large global corporations have far-reaching results that can affect major global issues from hunger and health to global warming. Here are examples of how successfully some major brands do CSR. Organizations will also use their own voices to oppose social inequality and policy changes that will affect the community negatively. Also privacy policies can become part of the CSR developments we will see as more and more infringements of data endanger personal information.

Johnson & Johnson

The multinational giant Johnson & Johnson is an excellent example of CSR. We have concentrated for three decades on increasing their impact on the planet. Their initiatives range from leveraging wind power to providing communities around the world with safe water. By buying a private energy supplier in the Texas Panhandle, the company was able to reduce pollution while providing a renewable, economical alternative to electricity. The company continues to pursue renewable energy options with the goal of procuring from renewable sources 35 percent of its energy needs.

Google is not only respected by its environmentally friendly policies, but also by its outspoken CEO Sundar Pichai. He stands up against social issues, including the anti-Muslim comments made by President Donald Trump. Google also earned the highest CSR score from RI due in part to its data center using 50 percent less energy than others around the world.
