During the second half of the twentieth century, many poor countries invested heavily in education and dramatically increasing their enrollment rates. Despite this effort, most of them remain poor. How is this possible?
This is possible because the quality of education is important.Increasing enrollment rate does not necessarily develop skills and without skills necessary for the job market, the country would remain poor because its labour force won't be earning much. The enrollment rate of India has increased over the past few decades but it new reports indicate that by 2030,Indian workforce won't have the skills suitable for the type of jobs in 2030.This drawback would reduce the GDP of India and it would remain a poor country.
So,the focus of the country should not be only to increase the enrollment rate, but also to provide quality education from the very beginning.
