The EU added very many members in recent years. Most
of these nations were from Central and Eastern Europe, and brought
weaker than average economies into the Eu.
Does this movement make sense? Has the EU expanded too rapidly? If
not, why limit expansion to these countries? Why not expand further
into the Near East?
No, adding weaker economies into the European Union does not make sense. Yes, it is expanding too rapidly. There should be limit on the expansion to these countries because adding economies which do not meet the set criteria and are weaker economies will make it difficult for the union to be strong. It will further make these economies weak initially and thus limitless expansion is not desirable for the Union as a whole and also for the individual economies of Eastern Europe.
