How will raising minimum wage affect poverty?

Raising the minimum wages would result in higher income for low income group and this would reduce the disequilibrium of income in the country. Higher wages would enable low income group to spend on education and better healthcare which would further improve quality of their living. Better eduaction would result in availability of high wage jobs for low income group which would further raise their income. So overall poverty should reduce.
